Terms of Service
Last updated: 10 April 2026
1. About these terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the OurVows wedding website builder ("Service"), operated by Michael Bruty, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom ("we", "us", "our").
By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. Service description
OurVows is a wedding website builder that allows couples to create, design, and publish a personalised wedding website. Features include website editing with AI-assisted design, guest management, RSVP tracking, digital invitations, photo books, seating plans, and related tools.
3. Account creation and eligibility
To use OurVows, you must create an account. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. By registering, you confirm that you meet this age requirement.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must provide accurate and complete information when creating your account and keep it up to date. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
You may sign up using email and password, or through a supported social sign-in provider (Google or Apple). When using social sign-in, we receive your name and email address from the provider.
4. User obligations
When using OurVows, you agree to:
- Provide accurate information about yourself and your wedding
- Use the Service only for lawful purposes related to wedding planning
- Not upload or distribute any content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise objectionable
- Not attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service
- Not use the Service to send unsolicited communications (spam)
- Not reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service
- Respect the intellectual property rights of others in any content you upload
5. Guest data and data controllership
When you add guests to your wedding on OurVows, you provide us with personal data about those individuals (such as names, email addresses, and phone numbers).
Under Article 26 of the UK GDPR, OurVows and the couple act as joint controllers for guest data. The couple determines who to invite and what personal data to provide. OurVows determines the technical means of storing, securing, and processing that data to deliver the Service.
As the couple, you are responsible for:
- Ensuring you have a lawful basis (such as legitimate interest) to provide guest data to OurVows
- Informing your guests that their data is being processed through OurVows (for example, by sharing the wedding website link, which contains a link to our Privacy Policy)
- Responding to guests who contact you about their data
OurVows is responsible for:
- Securing guest data using appropriate technical measures
- Deleting guest data when the couple deletes their wedding or account
- Providing a contact point (privacy@ourvows.site) for guests who wish to exercise their data rights
- Not using guest data for marketing or sharing it with third parties beyond what is necessary to deliver the Service
6. Intellectual property
Your content — You retain ownership of all content you upload to OurVows, including text, images, and other materials. By uploading content, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide licence to store, display, and deliver your content solely for the purpose of providing the Service. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account.
Our Service — The OurVows platform, including its design, templates, code, and branding, is our intellectual property. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks, logos, or other brand features.
AI-generated content — Content generated by our AI features (such as theme suggestions, text drafts, or seating arrangements) is provided for your use within the Service. You may use, modify, and publish AI-generated content on your wedding website.
7. Payment terms
OurVows offers both free and premium tiers. Premium features require a one-time payment processed by Stripe. We do not store your full payment card details.
All payments are in GBP. Prices are inclusive of VAT where applicable. Refund requests are handled on a case-by-case basis. Please contact hello@ourvows.site if you have a billing query.
8. Termination and account deletion
You may delete your account at any time through your account settings or by contacting us. When you delete your account:
- Your wedding website will be unpublished and removed
- All personal data, wedding content, guest data, and uploaded images will be permanently deleted in accordance with Article 17 (right to erasure) of the UK GDPR
- Payment records may be retained as required by UK tax and accounting obligations
We may suspend or terminate your account if you materially breach these Terms, including by uploading illegal content or abusing the Service. We will give you reasonable notice where possible.
9. Availability and liability
We aim to keep OurVows available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service is provided "as is" and "as available".
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claims arising from or related to these Terms or the Service is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or £50, whichever is greater.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these Terms will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights under applicable consumer protection laws.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you by email or through a notice in the Service at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
12. Contact
